A Different Shade of Blue
Today Scott (we can officially call him "Dr." now) signed on the dotted line at Duke University. Scott is so excited to have his first job that we went to Wal-Mart to buy our family some Duke shirts. Unfortunately, the Duke shirts were hanging next to the Carolina shirts, and Scott just couldn't bring himself to make the switch just yet. (Remember who is in the final four, after all!) It will take some time before Scott can surrender his Carolina blue for the "Dook" shade. If you are unclear about how seriously people out here take the Duke/North Carolina basketball rivalry, take a look at this.
We are excited and so thrilled. Sophie and Syrena were very disappointed, however, because they were looking forward to making Michigan snowmen, but we'll have to save that for Utah and Idaho. To them all of this hupla has been a little anti-climactic. ("What? We aren't moving? Anywhere? awhhhh...")
It was a very hard decision. Thanks for voting on our poll. We decided to go with the majority after all. See, I told you your vote mattered. :)
For those of you who would like to come and visit us here are some Carolina attractions:
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse
Blue Ridge Mountains
Hurricanes (Fran, 1996)

yeah! we're excited your stickin' around! congrats scott!
ReplyDeleteHoooray!!! Tell the girls I'll do a "snow" dance for them next winter, And never fear, there are quite a few folks at Duke whose heels are distinctly tarred. Some even spy on the dookies and take their coach husbands the latest Chronicle -providing much welcomed motivational material! Thank goodness I don't have to worry about our son's Progression now!
ReplyDeleteYAY X 1,000,000!
Chels,
ReplyDeleteJessica gave me the news today. We're so glad for you guys. I think Duke is an excellent choice. Not only are they blue, but they're devils. Seriously, we're very happy for you.
We are so excited for you guys! That's great news! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Tony and I are both so happy for you guys. That is really great.
ReplyDeleteWay to make a choice. Deciding things are the worst. I usually sit around in my pajamas half the day just because I can't decide what to wear. But enough about me... Happy Duking! I would have more to say about it, but I don't know anything about Duke or any other school for that matter.
ReplyDeleteFinal four, what's that? An accounting game?
Congratulations!!!! Duke is such a great school-Kurt loved it when he went there for training. Who knows maybe we'll make it there for graduate school in a few years. That lighthouse definitely makes me want to visit and see you guys! It's been way to long!
ReplyDeleteYay! Good choice! I love that he couldn't bring himself to buy Duke shorts. HAHAHA I don't think they require you to give up your loyalties to past schools. We're really glad you're sticking around.
ReplyDeleteI know my family is so excited you guys are staying! That is great news and congrats!
